Despite the best efforts to eliminate or reduce hazards, emergency incidents will occur and our response efforts will be enacted.

The University has multiple internal departments and teams and community partnerships respond to emergency incidents. The University Police Department is the lead public safety agency for the University. The average on-campus response time for ISU PD is typically 3 minutes or less. The Normal Police Department is also readily available to assist ISU PD if requested. ISU partners with the Normal Fire Department to provide fire suppression and emergency medical services to the University community. While the Normal Fire Department already has excellent response time to campus, their new state-of-the-art headquarters station, located on the south side of campus, will further reduce response times.
