Hazard Mitigation Plan
In 2016 and 2023, the University applied for and received grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to develop and update the University's Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. This plan identifies the natural-caused hazards facing the University, a risk assessment of the hazards, and specific projects to mitigate each hazard. Illinois State University is the first University in Illinois and one of the few in the nation to have such a plan. The first plan was formally approved and adopted in 2018 and updated and renewed in 2025.
