Continuity of Operations Plan
A Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) covers the period after an emergency has occurred and hands off to disaster recovery plans. The COOP is designed to addresses this question: How will we do [function] now? Examples of questions addressed by a COOP include:
- How will we feed residents after suddenly losing a dining center?
- How will we conduct on-line learning after losing ReggieNet for a week?
- How can we protect research in the event of a long-term power outage or loss of a facility?
- What's the University's chain-of-command?
- How will we conduct the University's business if our IT data center is unavailable for an extended period?
- How will key services be affected if we have a long-term water outage or contamination?
Emergency Management has identified a COOP Program Manager who will lead the University's effort in developing a comprehensive COOP. This effort will involve all areas of the University community.
