Shelter Management Team

In the event the University needs to establish an emergency shelter to house and feed persons displaced from their normal living location due to an emergency or disaster, our Shelter Management Team will take lead in standing up and operating this service. Team members are trained by the American Red Cross in established shelter management operations and our team will partner with a number of University departments to provide sleeping, eating, sanitation, service animal and other support services. If needed, we will ask the American Red Cross to assist at the shelter site.

In other events, a University facility may be utilized as a community shelter for an incident not otherwise impacting the University. If such a shelter is opened, the America Red Cross takes lead and our Shelter Management Team may provide services in a support capacity.

For more information about sheltering operations, contact our team lead, Lupe Montalvo.
